Mitchell Tackett, 83, of Waverly, OH passed on February 2, 2026 at his home under hospice care.
Mitchell was born on October 23, 1942 in Salyersville, Kentucky to the late Fred Tackett Sr and Sarah Ann (Castle) Tackett. On September 30, 2007 he married Debbie Tackett who survives. Also surviving are his two sons, Terry (Kelli) Tackett of Granville, OH and Frankie Tackett of Buckeye Lake, OH. Five grandchildren, Taylor (Andrea) Leopardi of Brooklyn, NY, Trent Tackett of Columbus, OH, Cody Tackett of Jacksonville, FL, and Ashton and Brody Tackett of Granville, OH., four brothers; Kenneth (Darleen) Tackett of Beaver, OH, Ronald (Kathy) Tackett of Johnstown, OH, Larry (Linda) Tackett of Waverly, OH, Delbert “Bo” Tackett of Waverly, OH, four sisters; Edna Mustard, of Piketon, OH, Maxine (Andrew) Partee, of Chillicothe, OH, Latricia (Trish) Bolen and Virginia (Gail) Helton of Beaver, OH.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers; David Tackett, James Tackett and Fred Tackett Jr.
Also surviving are three stepchildren, Antonio Spence of Columbus, OH, Charlene (Josh) Spence of Columbus, OH, four step granddaughters, Bria (Jonathen) Slick of Columbus, OH, Caleigh, Katlynn, and Alivya Vance of Columbus, OH and one step great-grandson Jackson Templin of Columbus, OH. Preceded in death is his stepson Vincent Spence.
Mitchell served in the United States Navy. Mitchell was a retired union Sheet Metal Worker, Local 98, Columbus, OH.
Mitchell loved spending time with his family and friends and helping them in any way he could. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, playing cards with family and friends, fishing, family gatherings, and special celebrations.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 7 at 12:30 p.m. at the Cox Burkitt Funeral Home in Beaver, OH with Delbert (Bo) Tackett officiating. Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with a Military Honors ceremony immediately following the services. A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
